  • THE ARCHITECTURE AND INTERPRETATION OF THE 1759 VOUGHT HOUSE - THE ONLY LOYALIST HOUSE MUSEUM IN NJ
    In honor of Christopher Vought's Birthday (February 24, 1714), enjoy a series of lectures around his life. Historical architect Michael Margulies, AIA, will discuss the architecture of the Vought House.   • THE HISTORY, ARCHITECTURE AND ARCHEOLOGY OF THE VOUGHT HOMESTEAD
    Join Historian Don Sherblom, Architect Michael Margulies and Montclair State University Archeologist Chris Mathews as they give various presentations regarding the recent archeological exploration of the 1756 Vought House.  Following a Question & Answer session, groups of 10 people at a time will tour the house while others explore the topics of the history and architecture of the Vought House and the recent Phase I restoration. 
    A suggested $5 donation per person is requested; ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE RESTORATION OF THE VOUGHT HOUSE.

Michael Margulies, a principal and co-founder of Eclectic Architecture, LLC, has over two decades of experience in architecture, historic preservation and traditional trades.  His extensive involvement with design, architectural conservation, consultation, grant writing and public speaking is complemented by his field experience which focused on carpentry and timber framing.  Among his many speaking engagements, he has presented at the Drew University Historic Preservation Certificate Program and the Rutgers University Cultural Heritage & Preservation Studies Program.  He is a founding member and President of the Pohatcong History & Heritage Society, sits on the Pohatcong Township Historic Preservation Commission and is on the Board of Directors for Preservation New Jersey.  Michael is a licensed architect in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania and runs Eclectic Architecture, LLC with his wife and partner, Jessica P. Margulies, RA, AIA, out of their converted 1837 barn in Pohatcong Township, Warren County, New Jersey.  Eclectic Architecture received a New Jersey State Historic Preservation Award in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
