George Conrad was born & raised in the small general farming community of Belle Mead in Somerset County. He worked on a variety farms as a youth where he learned the basics of dairy and poultry farming.

Following a six year stint in the Air Force, George was hired by Farm Credit of Central Jersey in 1961 to work as a farm loan investigator in both Hunterdon and Somerset counties. This position was the start of a  50 year career as a farm management and financial advisor to Hunterdon County farmers and farmland owners.

Over this time George has developed an intimate knowledge of Hunterdon County farmers and their farming operations as he witnessed the vastly changing face of agriculture in the area from 1961 to the present.

George has remained actively involved in the farm community during his Farm Credit career and subsequently with his involvement in Board of Agriculture, helping with the establishment of the Hunterdon County 4-H and Agricultural Fair in 1999. He has served as the Fair’s initial treasurer and more recently assisted with the newly constructed  Antique Tractor Display barn project at South County Park.
